Episode Transcripts

PowerPress allows you to include episode transcripts in your podcast RSS feed using the Podcast Namespace Transcript tag.

Adding transcripts can improve accessibility and help podcast apps and platforms display additional episode content.

Note: Transcript support depends on the podcast app or platform. Not all apps currently display transcripts, even if they are included in your feed.

Before You Begin

You will need a publicly accessible URL for your transcript file. This may be:

  • A transcript hosted on your website
  • A plain text or HTML file
  • A transcript file in a supported format (such as SRT or VTT)

For more details on supported transcript formats, see the Podcast Namespace documentation.

How to Add a Transcript to an Episode

  1. Edit your episode post in WordPress.
  2. Scroll down to the Podcast Episode box.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Check the option to Add a transcript.
  5. Paste your transcript URL into the field provided.
  6. Update or publish your post.

How Transcripts Are Used

When you add a transcript, PowerPress includes it in your podcast RSS feed using the Podcast Namespace. Podcast apps and platforms that support transcripts may display them to listeners.

Tip: You can also include a readable version of your transcript directly in your post content so visitors can view it on your website.
