Join the team of PowerPress Translators!

Anyone can translate PowerPress! PowerPress translations are managed on the official WordPress translate site. The process itself is straightforward; anyone with a free wordpress.org account may translate values in English to another language.

To translate, sign into WordPress.org (create an account if you do not have one already), navigate to the translate.wordpress.org PowerPress page and select the language you wish to translate from the Locale column. A list of 4 translation projects will be listed. To translate the plugin itself, select the “Stable (latest release)”. To translate the readme.txt (This translates the plugin’s page on WordPress.org), select the “Stable Readme (latest release)”. Translating development versions is not necessary at this time.

Once you select a locale and a project to translate, a grid based navigable page will load with strings available for translation. You may sort the page by selecting the “Untranslated” option to only view values that have not yet been translated. Now you can start translating; select the “Details” link at the right of a row, enter your new translation in the box provided, then click the “Suggest new translation” button.

Please refer to the Translator Handbook for help with the WordPress.org translation system.

PowerPress Versions and Translation

PowerPress major releases (e.g. 6.0) are limited to 1-2 per year. Major releases may include significant textual changes. Minor version releases (e.g. 6.1) typically incorporate new features into the current code base that typically incorporate a small number of translation changes. Common releases (e.g. 6.0.5) are maintenance and bug fix releases include only slight textual changes, if any.

Translation Moderation and Status

Translations are moderated by translator editors from wordpress.org. This process confirms that each translation is not malicious and conforms with WordPress.org translation guidelines.

Each translation record may be highlighted with a specific color indicating status. Below is a brief explanation.

  •  Green background indicates an approved translation.
  •  Yellow background indicates a translation is pending approval.
  •  Orange background indicates a “fuzzy” translation to be reviewed for accuracy.
  •  Purple background indicates a translation that was obsoleted by a newer translation.
  •  Red bar to the left of a translation indicates validation warnings, such as mismatched HTML.

A detailed getting started guide (though outdated) is available here.

Approval of Translations

Blubrry Podcasting has no control over the approval of translations for PowerPress. Translator editors on WordPress.org will get to your translations typically in 1-6 weeks, depending on their current workload.
