Skip-to-Position in Player

The shortcode lets you create a clickable link that jumps to a specific point in your podcast episode. When clicked, the player will skip to the time you specify and begin playing.

Quick Start

[skipto time="1:45"]Skip the intro

This will display as a clickable link. When clicked, playback will begin at 1 minute and 45 seconds into the episode.

Tip: You can place this shortcode anywhere in your post content to create clickable timestamps for your listeners.

Time Formats

You can specify time in several formats:

  • Minutes and seconds: time="1:45"
  • Hours, minutes, seconds: time="1:02:30"
  • Total seconds: time="180"

Custom Link Text

You can customize the link text:

Jump to Segment 2

If no custom text is provided, the timestamp will be displayed automatically.

Using with Podcast Channels

If you’re using Podcast Channels, you can target a specific channel:

Note: Post-Type Podcasting is a legacy feature and is no longer available for new setups.

Requirements

  • PowerPress version 7.4 or newer
  • A supported audio player
  • Shortcode must be lowercase:

Compatible Players

  • Blubrry Audio Player: Supported
  • WordPress default audio player (MediaElement.js): Supported
  • Other players: Not supported

Using with the Skip-to-Timestamp Plugin

The shortcode can also work with the third-party Skip-to-Timestamp plugin, which may be useful for video players or embedded media.

  • PowerPress targets the podcast episode player
  • The plugin targets the first media player on the page
Important: If using both plugins, place the media player you want to control near the top of your post.

Troubleshooting

If the link does not work:

  • Make sure you’re using a supported audio player
  • Confirm PowerPress is active and up to date
  • Check for typos in the shortcode (e.g., , not [SkipTo])
