Blubrry Podcasting’s 2023 Highlights: A Year in Podcasting Triumphs

Twenty-twenty-three has proved to be a landmark year for Blubrry Podcasting. With innovations, partnerships and exciting developments, we have solidified our position as a leading platform for podcasters around the world. Today, we dive deep into the key features and achievements that shaped Blubrry in 2023, highlighting our dedication to empowering podcast creators and fostering a vibrant podcast community.

We believe that the most remarkable ideas emerge when we unite to tackle the podcasting challenges that we’ve all heard, viewed, and experienced – and are committed to solving for the community. Below is a brief overview of our proudest moments and releases in 2023.

• Apple Podcasts Subscriptions — Starting the year off strong by integrating with Apple so podcasters can seamlessly publish premium podcast episodes directly within the Blubrry platform.
• Quicklinks — Easier link-sharing and navigation for podcast listeners, enhancing the creator-to-audience experience.
• Media Mastering by Auphonic — Advanced media mastering capabilities for creators; upload, briefly wait, and release your improved audio file to your podcast feed.
• Thrive Bundle — An intriguing combo of minor yet compelling features to help podcasters thrive in the competitive podcasting landscape. Stay tuned, as new features will continue to be added.
• New Stats Data Points — Episode Audience, Episode Comparison and Estimated Audience, available to Advanced Hosting podcasters.
• Badges and Achievements — Our system of badges and achievements incentivize and recognize podcasters’ accomplishments and milestones.
• Blubrry Podcast Stats PWA — Podcasters wanted their podcast stats on the go and we made ‘em available! Manage your stats on your iOS and Android devices at any time.
• Playlist Player — We admit, this one was a long time coming. Podcasters can curate and share their playlists, improving content discoverability.
• Podcast Mirror Updated — Rich with Podcasting 2.0 features and more, all Blubrry hosting podcasters receive Podcast Mirror for free.
• Premium Podcasting — Enabling podcasters to offer exclusive content while monetizing their shows through subscriptions.

We are particularly happy with our implementation of Podcasting 2.0 tags and features. Always striving to remain on the leading edge, we’ve taken a significant interest in enhancing the podcasting experience by adding a multitude of Podcasting 2.0 tags to the Blubrry publishing platform. We believe that these innovative tags empower creators with cutting-edge tools to enrich their content and engage with their audience on a deeper level. Our commitment to embracing Podcasting 2.0 underscores our mission to empower podcasters with the tools they need to craft exceptional content. This summer the team gathered in Columbus, Ohio, one last time. About once a year the team meets to actively collaborate and see our true innovation shine. Our best ideas for new services, solving customer problems, and more often come from moments of brainstorming with one another.

At that time we also said goodbye to what was the Columbus office. We made the easy decision to shut down our physical office this year, as everyone on our small but mighty team had already transitioned to successfully working from home. As the technology and podcasting industry has found, powerful and successful work can be done from afar and online. This doesn’t mean that we won’t be continuing to come together for an annual company retreat every year, but we’re cooking up something different and exciting for 2024 and beyond.

One of the ways we stay on top of podcast insights and developments is by attending events and conferences (such as the ones below). The same can be said for our software development team — they attended conferences this year to expand their knowledge and our CTO Lena Taupier was a speaker at AWS re:Invent.
