Joyce Graff, Founder of Powerful Patient, was featured on an episode of Brookline HUB In Depth.  Brookline HUB is a media outlet local to Joyce’s home community of Brookline, Massachusetts.

Host Harvey Bravman focuses on her work with Powerful Patient, empowering people to partner with their health care providers and manage their own health.

Joyce tells the story of the founding of the VHL Alliance.  She and others worked to create a community of affected families.  Together they learned — from each other and from specialist doctors — how to watch out for problems, manage the condition, and live longer.  The life expectancy of people with VHL has increased nearly one year for every year the group has been together.

In 2011 Joyce joined forces with Mike Lawing and Robin Martinez.  Together they began working with people with many conditions, because those same strategies work to find help for most conditions.  A good diagnosis is the first step in finding a solution.
