How I got started…

Hello and welcome to Ponder.FM. I’m WC, the editor and compiler of content for this blog and podcast. Let me explain how I got started in this hobby of mine.

4 years before the COVID Pandemic of 2020/2021 I attended a class on marketing and the instructor was a big fan of daily meditation. I must be honest, I thought she was totally nuts at first, I think my mindset was the same as the 30 others in the class that meditation is for Monks. She began to explain that the Tibetan Monks had a method of healing called sound bathing. She brought out instruments used in the technique and shared them with us, saying a daily dose of sound meditation will clear your mind and help you relax.

During the last 30 minutes she setup her instruments, went to the back of the room and turned out the lights. She told us all to sit back in our seats, close our eyes and concentrate totally on what we were about to hear. Then the beautiful tones started to ring out from the bowls. It was mesmerizing to say the least. Before I knew it the lights were coming on and she was saying it was time to go. I had just spent 30 minutes of my life in the most relaxed state I had ever been in. It was amazing and that was the beginning of my adventures into sound meditation.

My analysis…

The success to sound healing is closing your eyes and place your full focus of the sounds. I found that it also works with other relaxing noises like waterfalls, ocean waves, babbling brooks and all sorts of nature sounds. Lately I have been testing with static and household appliances, but to me, those aren’t as effective. It doesn’t matter what I think though, different methods work on different people and you need to be the judge of what works best for you.

Why did I start this podcast? I wanted to share my experiences with other people, hoping, some of you get involved with me and help create and test new sounds.

Here’s how I got my start with daily meditation.
