Living Beyond Your Busy Mind @ Yale University – podcast
I recently presented a yoga and meditation program called Beyond Your Busy Mind, at Yale University for their inaugural Yale Mental Health and Wellness Weekend. This student run event offered Yale students alternative ways of addressing stress, helping build students’ skills for resilience, and promoting a campus culture where students feel empowered to take care of themselves and each other.
My goal was to help them experience the space beyond the busy mind—even if just for a moment. This would be no easy task, as I knew these overachievers likely rely heavily on their hardworking intellect to guide them through the labyrinth of college life. I was quite certain that they’d be fairly attached to the contents of their mind and might not be so willing to release their grip as suggested. I knew, however, if I could just get them past their speed with a few minutes of deep breathing, they would sense a quiet stillness that would quickly enrapture them. If I could get them to slip beyond thinking for just a little bit, I’d have their attention.
It was an incredible experience that I am happy to share with you. Please feel free to download the one hour podcast of this simple yoga practice and enjoy. Would love to hear your comments!
