Today we’re talking with Dr. Jeff Foote about his work with families members of those suffering from substance abuse. Jeff says if we learn how to talk to the family member in a positive and supportive way, we can better understand where they are coming from and possibly help them make better choices. Jeff Foote Ph.D. is Co-founder and Executive Director at the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) and Co-President of CMC:Foundation for Change. Before co-founding CMC in 2003, Dr. Foote was the Deputy Director of the Division of Alcohol Treatment and Research at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NYC, as well as Senior Research Associate at The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA) in NYC.
