I Hate Running and You Can Too!

October 08, 2021

In this episode we speak with Brendan Leonard author of the book I Hate Running And You Can Too -How to Get Started, Keep Going, and Make Sense of an Irrational Passion.

Hear why it’s ok to walk in a marathon and why you get to create your own definition of success.

We also ask Brendan about what it’s like to make a living as an outdoor writer.

Interview with Brendan Leonard

Brendan Leonard is an adventure writer, award-winning filmmaker, speaker, and creator of Semi-Rad.com. Since a drinking problem landed him in rehab at age 23, he’s gone on to get a master’s degree, live out of a van for three years, spend cumulative weeks below the rim of the Grand Canyon, bicycle across America, and run three 100 mile ultramarathons

He makes a living as a full-time freelance creative, writing articles and books, producing and directing short films, and developing advertising content. His editorial work has appeared in Alpinist, CNN, Outside, Men’s Journal, National Geographic Adventure, Backpacker, Adventure Cyclist and dozens of other publications.

His newest book is: I Hate Running and You Can Too: How to Get Started, Keep Going, and Make Sense of an Irrational Passion. It’s a quick read, including 85+ charts and illustrations, and is written for you whether you’re a longtime runner or just curious about the idea of running “long distances.”

Shoutout to Sarah from Germany who earned a PR at the Berlin Marathon

Yesterday’s Berlin marathon was a tough cookie but thankfully I was able to get through it, even if I didn’t manage my A-goal of under 3:50:00. I can confirm what everyone else reported about the weather: it was hot, humid and exhausting </div></body></html>
