Episode #4:It’s the invention aftermath. As a follow up to our invention episode, we discuss the perspectives of Melanie & Chris, Amy’s sister and brother-in-law, who helped with Chris’s intervention and getting him into detox. In this episode we discuss their observations of Chris’s behavior leading up to the intervention, their medical professional perspectives on addiction, and the help and support they provided and continue to provide with Chris’s recovery. We will cover why it may be essential for someone in addiction to go to detox prior to rehab. You’ll also hear about Chris’s early experiences in detox and listen to a voicemail he left Amy only 24 hours into his recovery.
Episode Song:Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue
LyricsRat tailed Jimmy is a second hand hoodHe deals out in HollywoodGot a ’65 Chevy primered flamesTraded for some powdered goodsJigsaw Jimmy he’s runnin’ a gangBut I hear he’s doin’ okayGot a cozy little job sells the Mexican mobPackages of candy cane
He’s the one they call Dr. FeelgoodHe’s the one that makes ya feel alrightHe’s the one they call Dr. Feelgood
Cops on the corner always ignoreSomebody’s getting paidJimmy’s got it wired, law’s for hireGot it make in the shadeGot a little hideaway, does business all dayBut at night he’ll always be foundSelling sugar to the sweetPeople on the streetCall this Jimmy’s town
He’s the one they call Dr. FeelgoodHe’s the one that makes ya feel alrightHe’s the one they call Dr. FeelgoodHe’s gonna be your Frankenstein
I’ve got one thing you’ll understand (Dr. Feelgood)He’s not what you’d call a glamorous man (Dr. Feelgood)Got one thing that’s easily understood (Dr. Feelgood)He’s the one they call Dr. Feelgood oh yeah
He’ll tell you he’s the king of these Barrio streetsMoving up to Shangri LaCame by his wealth as a matter of luckSays he never broke no lawTwo time loser running out of juiceTime to move out quickHeard a rumor going roundJimmy’s going downThis time it’s gonna stick
He’s the one they call Dr. FeelgoodHe’s the one that makes ya feel alrightHe’s the one they call Dr. FeelgoodHe’s gonna be your Frankenstein
Let him soothe your soul, just take his hand (Dr. Feelgood)Some people call him an evil man (Dr. Feelgood)Let him introduce himself real good (Dr. Feelgood)He’s the only one they call feelgood (Dr. Feelgood)
I’ve got one thing you’ll understand (Dr. Feelgood)He’s not what you’d call a glamorous man (Dr. Feelgood)Got one thing that’s easily understood (Dr. Feelgood)He’s the one they call Dr. Feelgood
Dr. Feelgood (Dr. Feelgood)Dr. Feelgood (Dr. Feelgood)Dr. Feelgood (Dr. Feelgood)Dr. Feelgood (Dr. Feelgood)Feelgood, Feelgood, Feelgood, Feelgood
