Moving People from Anxiety to Action on Climate Change with Dr. Mick Smyer

January 13, 2021

Climate change is a concern for every two out of three people, but the same proportion of people do not talk about it. Dr. Mick Smyer is our guest on the next Living to 100 Club Podcast. He is the Founder and CEO of Growing Greener, an organization that moves people from anxiety to action on climate change. Growing Greener works with individuals and organizations who view people not solely as victims or climate change but also as potential leaders of climate action. Initially created to engage older adults to help combat climate change, the organization’s leaders learned that the approaches they developed worked for people of any age. Drawing on insights from psychology, behavioral economics, and climate communication strategies, Dr. Smyer helps individuals and organizations develop their own next steps for their own action plans, using workshops and presentations with customized training materials. Join us as we venture into learning more about the climate change movement, climate avoidance, and what actionable steps we can take on our own.
