One of the most-asked questions I get is, "How can I know my purpose"?  
Watching current events unfold sometimes causes us to wonder how or if we fit. We might look back at "the good 'ol days," or forward to better days. Why was I born now, at this time in history?, we might ask. And it's a good question. You won’t understand your own story and times and current events unless you understand your story and times and current events through His eyes. Because while we often believe sacred history is tangential to the action while secular history is central, the opposite is true from God's point of view. His-story, and our story, revolves around His Messiah, Jesus, and our relationship to Him. You and I are somewhere in the pages of the Grand Book of Life spoken of in the Bible.
Although it omits great events in human history which would feature prominently in any world history account written solely by men, the sweep of sacred history is magnificent - the good, the bad, and the ugly - and is preserved for us by the Holy Spirit in the Bible and Tradition. "Those who do not know history are bound to repeat it," so they say, and that's also why we are surveying this sacred biblical history of man from the beginning when "God created the heavens and the earth" to the end when he will create a "new heaven and new earth." Because time is limited for each of us, and knowing why you live at this spot on the timeline could and should help you know your purpose and make all the difference to history for yourself and those you love, in the final analysis.
