#146: Do You Struggle to Communicate What’s On Your Mind? [Podcast]
Welcome to Episode 146 of the Sheep Dressed Like Wolves Podcast. In this show I explore 6 things worth remembering as introverts and highly sensitive people when we want to communicate.
Whether going for a job interview, delivering a presentation, or simply having a conversation around the dinner table. Sometimes it's difficult to remain calm, keep focussed and communicate what we want to say even if we've practiced it over and over in our head.
What are you like at speaking your mind? Do you find it easy to communicate what you want to express to those around you, to get your point across and have your voice heard? Or do you find your clear thoughts become mushed and confused when you attempt to communicate them?
Good communicators aren't born, they are grown. When you look around and hear other people speaking clearly with authority, communicating with clarity and confidence it's not because they are just naturally good at it. They have developed those skills. They have watched others, learned from them, and learned from their own mistakes as they practice.
But how can we communicate what we want to say?
In this episode I dig deeper into these 6 things we can all do when we find ourselves needing to communicate ideas with simplicity, clarity and focus.
1. Understand it takes practice
2. Know what one thing you want to say
3. Don't over-prepare
4. Give yourself space and time in the moment
5. Don't beat yourself up afterwards
6. Practice Whenever You Can
