On Anger | Koshin Paley Ellison
“When we get caught up in our opinions and evaluations, we miss the opportunity to feel compassion and love.”
The Contemplative Care Retreat this year focused on the three poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion. During this dharma talk, Koshin Sensei turns our attention to how hatred, or our anger & resentment, impacts our relationships with one another and with our selves. We are encouraged to recognize that this poison is at least as ancient as our human species. To aid our practice of working with our anger, Koshin shares the advice Shakyamuni Buddha gave to his son about how to pratice and ends with the wisdom of Jenta in her peom, Conqueror, about the seven friends we carry with us.
