NYC to Implement Nation’s First Minimum Pay Rate for App-Based Restaurant Delivery Workers
- New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga announced a novel initiative to implement a first-of-its-kind minimum pay rate for app-based restaurant delivery workers.
- “Our delivery workers have consistently delivered for us — now, we are delivering for them. This new minimum pay rate, up by almost $13.00/hour, will guarantee these workers and their families can earn a living, access greater economic stability, and help keep our city’s legendary restaurant industry thriving,” he added.
- While the headlines might initially draw applause, a closer look reveals potential unintended consequences and raises questions about the viability of such a policy.
- The proposal involves more than doubling the average hourly rate for delivery workers from $7.09 to $19.96, a change touted as a means to ensure economic stability for the city’s more than 60,000 delivery workers.
With thin profit margins, these platforms may have to pass the added expense onto restaurants and consumers, potentially resulting in higher prices for customers and decreased sales for eateries. This shift could lead to a reduced demand for delivery services, threatening the jobs of the very workers this initiative aims to support.

- The shift for American factories has been years in the making. When Japanese and German carmakers started production in America in the 1980s and 1990s, most chose the South. They were attracted by a dearth of unions and generous subsidies. Nissan went to Tennessee, Toyota to Kentucky, Mercedes-Benz to Alabama and bmw to South Carolina. In 1985 the Midwest had 1.25 workers making durable goods such as cars and electronics for each one in the South, according to the Department of Labour. By 2021 the number of durable-goods factory workers in the South had just about drawn even with the Midwest.

Marjorie Taylor Greene held an emergency event after reading the FBI’s FD-1023 form, that alleges a bribery scheme involving Joe Biden during his days as vice president, revealing that payments were made to the Biden family by Burisma, the Ukrainian oil company which Hunter Biden sat on the board of.
- “Back in 2015/2016, Burisma was looking to buy a US-based oil and gas company, and this came from being advised by Hunter Biden and his partners. Biden said [Viktor] Shokin was corrupt. This was around the time of this meeting, [which] was when Joe Biden, as vice president, said that prosecutor Shokin was corrupt.”
- “They hired Hunter on the board to make the problems go away. That’s what they specifically said. Hunter advised that they could raise more money if they bought a US company.”
- Greene stated that the informant was “trying to do the right thing and trying to advise Burisma that they shouldn’t go this route,” that they should instead hire an attorney to “work out their problems that they were being investigated for because they were having other legal problems.”
- “And that’s why they were being investigated by this prosecutor Shokin. The informant was advising them, don’t go this route, why would you buy another US company while you’re under investigation? That’s not a good idea,” said Greene.
- Greene said that the owner of Burisma “said that Hunter was stupid and that his other business partner was smart.”
- “He also said that he paid $5 million to one Biden and he paid $5 million to another Biden. And it was all a bribery to get Shokin fired and end the investigation into Burisma.”

Grassley Reveals Existence Of Biden Tapes Related To Bribery Allegations
- Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa said Monday that a “foreign national” who allegedly bribed then-Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden recorded phone conversations with the two men as an “insurance policy.”
- Republican Rep James Comer of Kentucky and Grassley wrote to the FBI on May 3 to demand that the agency produce the document that reportedly details a bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden. Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the ranking minority member of the House Oversight Committee, reviewed the unclassified document known as a FD-1023 June in a secure facility.

Grassley: FBI Redacted References To Recordings In Biden Allegation Shared With Congress

- Last week, I came to the Senate Floor to give a speech about the Biden Justice Department and FBI playing games with the American people by hiding the FBI-generated 1023 document from Congress.
- Director Wray was going to be held in contempt for refusing to produce the 1023 that I told Chairman Comer about. Then, instead of contempt, the FBI committed to showing the 1023 and related documents to Congress.
- So, the FBI showed but didn’t provide possession of that 1023 to the House Oversight Committee last week.
- As the public knows that 1023 involves an alleged bribery scheme between then-Vice President Biden, Hunter Biden and a foreign national. The same allegations that Chairman Comer and I made public on May 3 of this year.
- And on the same day that the FBI provided a redacted version of the 1023 to the House Oversight Committee, the Justice Department announced that former President Trump had been indicted and charged with 37 crimes relating to his alleged mishandling of classified records.
- Attorney General Garland signed off on prosecuting Trump for conduct similar to what Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton engaged in. Two standards of justice in this country will turn our constitutional Republic upside down. Thanks to the political infection within the Biden Justice Department and FBI, we’re well along the road for that to happen.
- This senator will do all that he can to fight that political infection. And you fight it by bringing transparency to what the government does. The public’s business ought to be public. Transparency brings accountability.
- With respect to the 1023 shown to that House Committee, from what I’ve been told by folks who’ve reviewed it, it’s filled with redactions. So, Director Wray placed redactions on a document that’s already unclassified.
- More than that, the FBI made Congress review a redacted unclassified document in a classified facility. That goes to show you the disrespect the FBI has for Congress. On a previous time on the Senate Floor, I asked my fellow senators what’s so unusual about an unclassified document being given to the public, when on May 18 of this year, there was leaked to the New York Times a classified document and even the name of a confidential human source. So, we’re kind of in a strange situation here. A classified document can be leaked to the New York Times, but an unclassified document can’t be made public to 300 million Americans.
- Accordingly, Congress still lacks a full and complete picture with respect to what that document really says. That’s why it’s important that the document be made public without unnecessary redactions for the American people to see.
- The 1023 produced to that House Committee redacted reference that the foreign national who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden allegedly has audio recordings of his conversations with them. Seventeen total recordings.
- According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses fifteen audio recordings of phone calls between him and Hunter Biden. According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses two audio recordings of phone calls between him and then-Vice President Joe Biden. These recordings were allegedly kept as a sort of insurance policy for the foreign national in case he got into a tight spot. The 1023 also indicates that then-Vice President Joe Biden may have been involved in Burisma employing Hunter Biden.

REPORT: Burisma Founder Who Allegedly Bribed Joe and Hunter Biden Is a Russian Asset
- Burisma Holdings founder Mykola Zlochevsky, who allegedly paid a total of $10 million in bribes to Joe and Hunter Biden in 2015 and 2016 in exchange for then-Vice President Joe Biden’s assistance in getting Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired, is believed to be an asset of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) by the United States intelligence community, according to a national security source speaking to RedState on condition of anonymity.
- “The US intelligence community has a high degree of confidence in their assessment of Zlochevsky as SVR. This is not a new assessment; the intelligence community under Obama knew this, and Obama was briefed on it. Joe Biden and Victoria Nuland were briefed as well.”
First, Democrats are peddling conspiracy theories and alleging the FD-1023 record is based on secondhand hearsay. The FD-1023 record was generated by a trusted confidential source who was working with the FBI for over ten years.
- The idea that the information is “secondhand hearsay” has always been a weak deflection. As stated, the FD-1023 was sourced by a confidential human source with a long track record of assisting the FBI. There is no reason to believe they made the information up. Are Democrats suggesting that informants are to be outright dismissed now?
Second, Democrats claim that the record is part of the documents Rudy Giuliani provided the FBI in January 2020. That’s not true. The FD-1023 document stands on its own and contains information from the FBI’s confidential human source dating back to another FD-1023 generated in 2017.
- The claim that Rudy Giuliani sourced the FD-1023 in question is a lie that got repeated multiple times by Rep. Jamie Raskin, who is playing the part of Adam Schiff in obstructing the investigation into Biden. Raskin and other Democrats said that as a way to discredit the source. It is simply untrue, as Comer points out. The source in question was not Giuliani but a seasoned confidential human source that worked with the FBI going back to the Obama administration. Further, as noted, the FD-1023 that was generated in 2020 was a re-upping of what was submitted in 2017.
Third, the FD-1023 was generated by the FBI in June 2020 based on other FBI records dating back to 2017. The Department of Justice conducted an assessment on separate material provided to the Department in January 2020, and this assessment was closed in August 2020. Democrats are claiming the DOJ investigated the FD-1023 and then took no action, but the FBI has refused to answer what information was part of their assessment. How could the DOJ have conducted a credible, thorough investigation in four weeks? It’s not possible.
- The timeline of the supposed “investigation” is a major red flag in all this. As the FD-1023 allegedly says, the Biden family used dozens of corporations and LLCs to move money around. It’s such an extensive network that it might take months or years to unravel. And the FBI supposedly looked into the information in four weeks? That smacks of an attempt to sweep all this under the rug.
- Lastly, Comer hits on yet another lie that was told by Raskin recently. Namely. that the investigation into the FD-1023 was closed.
- And last, let’s be very clear: The allegations in the record are not closed. FBI officials and former Attorney General William Barr have refuted Democrats’ lies that the Biden bribery investigation was closed. “On the contrary, it was sent to Delaware for further investigation,” former Attorney General Barr said this week on the record.

Americans should prepare for cyber sabotage from Chinese hackers, US official warns
- Chinese hackers are all but certain to disrupt American critical infrastructure, such as pipelines and railways, in the event of a conflict with the United States, a senior U.S. cybersecurity official said Monday.
