Biden, Congressional Leaders Change ‘Scope’ Of Who Is Negotiating Over Debt Ceiling
- President Joe Biden met with Congressional leaders for another conservation on the debt ceiling, weeks away from possible default.
- In the meeting, Biden and the leaders changed “the scope” of who is negotiating, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said.
- “What has changed in this meeting is the president changed the scope of who’s all negotiating… Appoint somebody from the president’s team who could work with the speaker’s team to see if we could come to an agreement. That is what the decision was made in this meeting,” the House speaker said.

- A group of Democratic lawmakers reintroduced a bill on Tuesday aiming to increase the number of liberal seats on the Supreme Court by four. The initiative follows recent controversies surrounding the financial disclosures of justices and the court’s Dobbs abortion ruling, deepening Democrats’ dissatisfaction with the conservative majority.
- At a press conference in front of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Democratic senators argued that they needed to pack the nation’s highest court with liberal justices.
- The U.S. Constitution does not stipulate how many Supreme Court Justices should serve on the court; but there have been nine justices since 1889. Before 1889, Congress often changed the number of Supreme Court Justices to achieve partisan objectives. There were five SCOTUS justices under former President John Adams and as many as 10 justices under former President Abraham Lincoln.

FBI Leadership Sabotaged Clinton Foundation Investigations: Durham Report
- Remember the Clinton Foundation? Which, took millions in foreign donations when everyone thought Hillary Clinton was going to win the 2016 US election, only to see donations plummet by 90% after she lost?
- Now we learn, thanks to the Durham report, that the FBI had three concurrent investigations into the Clinton Foundation, which were shut down during the 2016 election year by top brass.
- Durham’s scope included the FBI investigations “directed” at the Hillary Clinton campaign. It seems the purpose of that review was to assess and compare the favorable treatment received by Clinton to the targeting of Trump.
- The first investigation involved an FBI tip from a CHS that a foreign government was sending a person “to contribute to Clinton’s anticipated presidential campaign, as a way to gain influence with Clinton should she win the presidency.” (Which country?!) An FBI field office sought a FISA against the foreign contributor and made that request to FBI headquarters, which ignored it for four months due to the fact that they were careful that Clinton was “involved.” According to one FBI Agent, “They were pretty ‘tippy-toeing’ around HRC because there was a chance she would be the next president.” The FISA was approved on the condition that the FBI give defensive briefings to Clinton.
- The second Clinton investigation involved the same CHS, who in November 2015 reported to the FBI that another foreign government was looking to contribute to the Clinton campaign “in exchange for the protection of [that country’s] interests should Clinton become President.” That CHS would end up making a $2,700 donation to the Clinton campaign on behalf of a foreign insider, in violation of federal law which bans contributions by foreign nationals. The CHS told their handling FBI agent that “They [the campaign] were okay with it. […] yes they were fully aware from the start” of the contribution being made on behalf of the foreign interest.

Despite this evidence, DOJ and FBI leadership essentially sabotaged the Clinton Foundation investigation. The DOJ was “hostile” to the Clinton Foundation presentations from the FBI Field Offices. And at a February 2016 FBI meeting to discuss the Clinton Foundation investigations, Assistant Director Andre McCabe ordered the cases to be closed.

Texas Passes Bill To Curtail Dem Cities’ Local Powers
- The Texas legislature passed a bill that would strip municipalities of their power to regulate several areas of activity and transfer their jurisdiction to the GOP-controlled legislature.
- The bill, known as the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act, would prevent all municipalities in the state from passing any ordinance or by-law that conflicts with several state codes regarding agriculture, commerce, insurance, labor, occupations, and property, among others. It was passed by a vote of 18 to 13 in the Texas Senate, over the opposition of all Democrats, with the ordinances of Democratic-led municipalities likely to be invalidated.

- A judge in Nashville has received an unredacted copy of a manifesto written by a shooter who killed three 9-year-olds and three adults during a Christian school shooting in March. The manifesto, found at the residence of Audrey Hale, 28, who was later shot dead by police, has sparked a contentious debate over its release to the public.
- Nashville Police had announced in the aftermath that they will be releasing the manifesto recovered from the car of the shooter involved in the attack at the Covenant School in March.
- Local authorities and the FBI, however, withheld releasing the manifesto to the public. Its release has been delayed multiple times, most recently, due to pending litigation surrounding the document. However, on Sunday, the Daily Mail reported that an unredacted copy of the manifesto is now in the hands of a judge in Nashville.
- The judge has been provided with two versions of the manifesto for review: one without any redactions and another with proposed redactions made by city attorneys. The decision on whether to release the document to the public will ultimately lie with the judge.
- Meanwhile, legal action has been taken by The Covenant School to prevent the release of the manifesto. Their lawyers argue that its publication could compromise the safety of the school, its staff, and its students. The school filed a motion of intervention on Monday to seek protection against the potential risks associated with the manifesto’s release.
- This motion comes in response to separate lawsuits filed by the National Police Association (NPA) and the Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA), both seeking the public release of Audrey Hale’s writings.
