Goldman Sachs Under Investigation After Advising Silicon Valley Bank Before Collapse
- U.S. authorities are investigating Goldman Sachs after the banking giant advised California lender Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) in the weeks before its collapse, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulatory filing on Thursday.
- Goldman says it is “cooperating with and providing information to various governmental bodies in connection with their investigations and inquiries,” according to the filing. SVB hired Goldman to advise them prior to the bank’s failure, and the banking giant recommended SVB sell it a large portfolio of securities at a substantial loss to raise capital, a transaction that proceeded SVB’s collapse on March 10.
- Goldman suggested SVB sell it a $21 billion portfolio of U.S. government debt; the California lender followed the advice just hours later and eventually disclosed it had lost $1.8 billion in the transaction, according to The New York Times. The portfolio’s value plunged because of increasing interest rates, according to the NYT. Goldman stood to garner more than $100 million in fees from the deal.

FDIC To Slap Banks With New Fees To Cover Bailout Losses: REPORT
- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) plans to release a proposal to replenish funds spent bailing out depositors of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank in March by charging fees to banks with over $10 billion in assets, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke to Bloomberg.
- The smallest lenders with under $10 billion in assets would be exempt from these fees, according to the sources who spoke to Bloomberg. There were over 4,000 banks beneath that threshold at the end of 2022; however, there were 145 banks between $10 billion and $250 billion in assets, according to FDIC data.
- The Deposit Insurance Fund, which the FDIC uses to cover depositors, was depleted by an estimated $22.5 billion when combining the bailouts of SVB and Signature, according to a statement by FDIC Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg. The FDIC estimated that roughly $19.2 billion of that total was attributable to the cost of covering uninsured deposits due to fears that the banks’ failures posed systemic risks to the financial sector.

White House Mulls Short-Term Debt Ceiling Extension If Negotiations Break Down
- The White House is considering a short-term extension of the debt ceiling into the fall, which would be seen as a ‘last resort’ to prevent the United States from default in the event negotiations with top Republicans break down, CNBC reports.
- On Thursday, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shalanda Young hinted that a temporary debt ceiling extension was an option.
- “I’m sure one of the things on the table we will have to work through is how long. I’m not going to take anything off the table,” she told reporters when asked about a possible short-term extension.

BREAKING: Texas Mall Mass Shooter Identified as 33-Year-Old Security Guard Named Mauricio Garcia
- A mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets, a popular outdoor mall located in a suburb north of Dallas, Texas, claimed the lives of nine people and injured at least seven others.
- The alleged shooter has now been identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, who was also killed during a confrontation with law enforcement officials.
- “Multiple sources tell me the Allen Outlet mall shooter’s name is Mauricio Garcia,” CBS News reporter JD Miles tweeted. “He was 33. A house that was raided in Dallas overnight was his parents. Sources tell me he was living in a motel. He had no serious criminal record and was working as a security guard.”

FDA Issues Emergency Warning for 500,000 COVID Tests
- The FDA issued a warning to consumers on to stop using a certain COVID-19 at-home test due to the potential for bacterial contamination in the product’s liquid solution.
- In a bulletin, the FDA warned consumers and medical care providers “to stop using and toss out certain lots of recalled SD Biosensor, Inc. Pilot COVID-19 At-Home Tests, distributed by Roche Diagnostics.”
- The agency said it has “significant concerns of bacterial contamination” in the liquid solution that comes with the kit. “Direct contact with the contaminated liquid solution may pose safety concerns and the bacterial contamination could impact the performance of the test,” the FDA said, issuing a “do no use” warning to users.
Parents More Likely to Question Routine Childhood Vaccinations Post-COVID: Research Report
- Canadian parents have become more likely to question routine childhood vaccinations since the pandemic, according to research.
- Immunization rates “have declined since COVID-19” according to research commissioned by the federal government and conducted by Ekos Research Associates. The resulting report, “Childhood Vaccination Marketing Campaign Survey 2022,” was delivered to Health Canada on Feb. 15, 2023, and was first obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter.
- Only 39 percent of respondents said they accept all recommended childhood vaccines and have no doubts or concerns about vaccinating their child—a drop from 48 percent in 2017.
- One in three parents (33 percent) indicated they accept government-recommended vaccines, but have “minor doubts and concerns.”
- Nearly 20 percent of parents said they have refused or delayed getting vaccines for their children, and another 3 percent have refused all vaccines. These two numbers combined have doubled from 12 percent in 2017 to 22 percent in 2022, said the research.
- Data from Canada’s Public Health Agency data indicates just 40 percent of children under 12 are considered fully vaccinated against COVID. The government said the low uptake stemmed from parents feeling “not enough research on the vaccine has been done in children.”
- Al Sharpton’s National Action Network has joined a growing number of radical activists demanding that the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg file charges in connection with the chokehold death of Jordan Neely.
- Demonstrators have been rallying across New York City to demand justice for Neely, with protesters taking to the streets from Union Square to the 63rd Street-Lexington Avenue subway station. At present, it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made. A grand jury is expected to convene next week to hear evidence in the case.
The protesters actually took to the subway tracks in an effort to disrupt the train schedule.

- White House scandals spokesman Ian Sams issued a statement in April denying Joe Biden was behind the political interference in the investigation of First Son Hunter Biden.
- In April an IRS whistleblower accused the Biden administration of interfering in Hunter Biden’s ongoing criminal investigation. The statement by Sams came just hours after White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre declined to comment on the whistleblower complaint.
- The whistleblower exposed a deep coverup of the Hunter Biden investigation that involved Attorney General Merrick Garland.
- Merrick Garland famously lied about this under oath during questioning by Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa.
- The New York Post reported that AG Merrick Garland is the unnamed official whose sworn testimony before Congress is being challenged in a bombshell letter from an IRS whistleblower’s attorney that also alleges a coverup in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation.
- This is not the first time Merrick Garland was caught lying under oath to Congress.
- Garland also lied about the Antifa-BLM mobs outside of the Supreme Court Justices’ homes.

House Oversight Committee says it has received documents from Penn Biden Center
- The Penn Biden Center has sent materials to the House Oversight Committee relating to the classified documents scandal.
- The committee wrote a letter in January asking for information related to President Joe Biden‘s papers stored at the think tank

- Assets like Susan Rice are pulled from the White House. The Obama embeds position to avoid damage, and the circumstances for Biden’s removal are created by the same people who control the collection of the evidence against him.
- There isn’t going to be a Joe Biden DNC nominating convention in Chicago. There isn’t going to be another presidential race by Biden; it was never the intention from the outset in the 2020 plan to use him. Biden is in the process of being excommunicated from the party. His usefulness exhausted, this is the disposal phase.
