Delta, United, and American Are Slashing Flights at 3 Major Airports, as of May 15
- THE “BIG THREE” CARRIERS COULD CUT UP TO 10 PERCENT OF THEIR DEPARTURES FROM THE DESTINATIONS.
- This summer, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, and JetBlue Airways have all confirmed they will be cutting back departures from the New York City area, Airline Weekly reports. The carriers will reduce their volume at John F. Kennedy Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and Newark Liberty Airport in nearby New Jersey to help ease delays and other issues during the upcoming busy travel season. The changes could potentially affect up to 10 percent of each airline’s departures from each of the transportation hubs.
- The move comes after a meeting held with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on March 29 to discuss ongoing issues related to a shortage of air traffic controllers. Last month, the agency said that it expected only to have 54 percent of the necessary staff working in the New York City area and anticipated delays on about 45 percent of all flights from the region if traffic was not decreased, Bloomberg reported.

- EU negotiators fear they’ll never get a deal on averting steel tariffs with the US before an October deadline expires.
- Negotiators from Brussels and Washington are scrambling to solve a five-year dispute over steel and aluminum dating back to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to slap tariffs on European imports. They have until October to get a deal but are still so far apart that European officials now fear the chances of an agreement are slim.
- Without a deal, both sides could reimpose billions of dollars worth of trade tariffs on each other’s goods — potentially spreading well beyond steel to hit products including French wines, U.S. rum, vodka and denim jeans.
- While U.S. negotiators are still hopeful that an agreement can be reached in time, the political fallout of failure for President Joe Biden would be serious, with U.S. exports facing a hit just ahead of his potential re-election battle in 2024. More broadly, another breakdown in trade relations between Europe and the United States would heap further pressure on a relationship that is already under strain from Biden’s green subsidies package for American industries.
- The transatlantic disagreement is a hangover from the days of Trump, who imposed tariffs on €6.4 billion worth of European steel and exports in 2018. The tariffs were extra sensitive because Trump had imposed them on grounds of national security.

How A Central Bank Recently Used Its Gold Revaluation Account To Cover Losses
- the central bank of Curaçao and Saint Martin managed to use its gold revaluation account to offset losses in 2021. Because many other monetary authorities are currently making losses too—and there is no limit to revaluing gold against fiat money—this trick could be used the world over to heal central banks’ balance sheets. What is a Gold Revaluation Account?
- Late in 2022 the Dutch central bank (DNB) revealed it was suffering losses due to rising interest rates after consecutive years of Quantitative Easing (QE). During QE it bought domestic government bonds that yielded close to nothing with newly created reserves. When the European Central Bank instructed DNB to raise interest rates to combat inflation, its interest expenditures on reserve liabilities exceeded interest income from its assets, which equals a loss.
- The central bank of Curaçao and Saint Martin (CBCS) started making losses in 2020 due to declining interest income, which accelerated in 2021. At the end of 2020, CBCS held 420,395 fine troy ounces of gold. Its equity position was NAf 1,341 million, of which its GRA accounted for NAf 1,275 million. Since the GRA makes up a large part of CBCS’s equity it was tempting to use some of it when confronted with losses.

Social media backlash was swift, with conservatives starting a #BoycottBudweiser hashtag which trended on Twitter.
Singer and MAGA conservative Kid Rock then expressed his fury over Bud Light bowing to the radical left trans mafia. He brought several Bud Light cases for target practice on Monday and unloaded several rounds of gunfire on them from an AR-15.
After the beers cans were completely destroyed, Rock turned to the camera and said “F**K Bud Light and f**k Anheuser-Busch!”

White House Says Lawmakers Shouldn’t Decide ‘Appropriate’ Age For Sex Changes
- President Joe Biden believes that lawmakers should leave it up to parents and children to decide what age is “appropriate” for a child to undergo sex changes, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday.
- “I’m wondering what the president’s reaction is to the Indiana governor signing that bill into law, and does the president have a position on at what age these kinds of therapies and surgeries are appropriate,” Wegmann said.
- “That’s something for a child and their parents to decide. That’s not something that we believe should be decided by legislators,” Jean-Pierre responded.

India to require Facebook and Twitter rely on gov’t fact checking
- India amended its IT law on Thursday to prohibit Facebook, Twitter and other social media firms from publishing, hosting or sharing false or misleading information about “any business” of the government and said the firms will be required to rely on New Delhi’s own fact-check unit to determine the authenticity of any claim.
- Failure to comply with the rule, which also impacts internet service providers such as Jio and Airtel, risks the firms losing their safe harbour protections. The rule, first proposed in January this year, assigns a unit of the government arbitrary and over-broad powers to determine the authenticity of online content and bypasses the principles of natural justice, said New Delhi-headquartered digital rights group Internet Freedom Foundation.
- “The notification of these amended rules cement the chilling effect on the fundamental right to speech and expression, particularly on news publishers, journalists, activists, etc. The fact check unit could effectively issue a takedown order to social media platforms and even other intermediaries across the internet stack, potentially bypassing the process statutorily prescribed under the Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000,” Internet Freedom Foundation added.

‘Not For Us To Decide’: KJP Dodges When Asked If Nashville Shooting Was Hate Crime
- White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused Wednesday to say whether a March 27 shooting at a Christian school in Nashville was a hate crime.
- “Former Vice President Pence said that if the shooter who killed six people in that Christian school in Tennessee was motivated by a hatred towards Christians, that the crime should be categorized as a hate crime,” an unidentified reporter said to Jean-Pierre. “I’m wondering what the President thinks about that kind of designation?”

Statement by President Biden on Mass Shooting in Buffalo, New York
- Tonight, we grieve for the families of ten people whose lives were senselessly taken and everyone who is suffering the physical and emotional wounds of this horrific shooting. We are grateful for the bravery of members of law enforcement and other first responders who took immediate action to try to protect and save lives. The First Lady and I are praying for the victims and their families, and hearts all across this country are with the people of Buffalo.
- We still need to learn more about the motivation for today’s shooting as law enforcement does its work, but we don’t need anything else to state a clear moral truth: A racially motivated hate crime is abhorrent to the very fabric of this nation. Any act of domestic terrorism, including an act perpetrated in the name of a repugnant white nationalist ideology, is antithetical to everything we stand for in America. Hate must have no safe harbor. We must do everything in our power to end hate-fueled domestic terrorism.

China to inspect ships in Taiwan Strait, Taiwan says won’t cooperate
- China’s Fujian maritime safety administration launched a three-day special joint patrol and inspection operation in the central and northern parts of the Taiwan Strait that includes moves to board ships, it said on its WeChat account.
- The move comes amid heightened tensions between China and Taiwan, with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy hosting Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen in California on Wednesday, becoming the most senior U.S. figure to meet a Taiwanese leader on U.S. soil in decades.
- The maritime safety authority in the southeastern Chinese province said on Wednesday the operation included “on-site inspections” on direct cargo ships and construction vessels on both sides of the Taiwan Strait “to ensure the safety of vessel navigation and ensure the safe and orderly operation of key projects on water”.
- It said it has notified relevant shipping operators that if they encounter such requests from China they should refuse them and immediately notify Taiwan’s coast guard to render assistance.

- From the bottom of the sea, high up to the Stratosphere: after the Nord Stream pipelines were destroyed in a deep sea op, Russians state that the next target for sabotage may be up in space.
- TASS reported how the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to Ukraine’s attempts to influence Russian civilian communications satellites.
- Foreign Ministry statement:
- “The Kiev regime, with the participation of specialists from a number of foreign states, is attempting to influence Russian civilian communications satellites.
- This is an outrageous violation of international law. The Russian side has the right to respond appropriately. All the necessary opportunities are available for this.”
- Yahoo:
“Ukrainian troops relied heavily on Starlink during the initial stages of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The satellites […] played a crucial role during the Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea, when Russia’s frigate Admiral Makarov was damaged. - About 20,000 Starlink terminals are also used for artillery fire correction, coordinating maneuvers, conducting aerial reconnaissance, and providing communications between units in remote areas.”
- Fearing to be involved in a dangerous escalation of the conflict, Musk limited the use of Starlink terminals for military purposes.
- “That led to the Armed Forces of Ukraine losing access to satellite Internet in active warzones and Russia-occupied areas of the country.
- It has now been revealed that Starlink is also using geofencing to block the use of its terminals over water and when the receiver is moving at speeds over 100 km/h.”
- The reality of contemporary conflict is that no realm is spared anymore: trouble is brewing on sea, on land, in the air and orbiting our planet in space.

- On April 3, 2023, the now retired Dr. Fauci made an appearance at a townhall discussion with Jim Acosta at James Madison University. In the discussion, Dr. Fauci states that “there will absolutely be an outbreak of another pandemic.” He then suggests it could be “next year” or it could be in our “grandchildren’s lifetimes.” Given his track record on predicting outbreaks, this “absolutism” should not be taken lightly. Study: Over 72% of NYC Violent Crime Suspects Freed Without Bail Go On to Commit More Crimes
- Felony suspects released without bail thanks to New York’s bail reform law are more likely to be rearrested for more felonies, including violent crimes, than suspects who were given bail before the law went into effect.
- A study by researchers at John Jay College of Criminal Justice reviewed cases prior to the New York law taking effect and cases after the law was implemented where most suspects arrested for crimes are not required to pay any bail to be released from jail.
- Overall, the study found that 47 percent of New York City suspects previously charged with felonies were rearrested for crimes — including more than 31 percent of whom were rearrested for felonies, more than 17 percent rearrested for violent crimes, and almost four percent rearrested for firearm charges.
- In all three categories, felonies, violent crimes, and firearm charges, felony suspects had a higher rate of rearrest after they were released without bail than those who were arrested and required to post bail before the new law went into effect.
- Perhaps most significantly, the study revealed that suspects with prior violent crime records in New York City had a much higher rate of being rearrested after being released without bail than those who were locked up with bail before the law was implemented.

Trump ruled out prosecuting Hillary: For him to do so would make U.S. look like ‘banana republic’
“Did FBI agents ever show up at Hillary Clinton’s house over her clearly criminal and treasonous ‘documents dispute?’ ” asked The Federalist’s Joy Pullman.
- “Nope. The FBI’s director instead essentially confirmed she had committed multiple felonies but decided not to investigate or prosecute her for it because she was a presidential candidate for a major political party.”
- Barack Obama himself said in 2016: “In a democracy, you can’t threaten to jail your opponents. We have fought against those kinds of things.”
- “In America, we don’t send our political opponents to jail,” tweeted an official Democratic National Committee Twitter account.
- Of course, when they said “political opponents” they meant “Democrats.”
- Still, Trump as president had the chance to prosecute Hillary, and decided not to pursue it.
- “ ‘Even if she were guilty,’ he told Barr, for the election winner to seek prosecution of the loser would make the country look like a ‘banana republic.’ ”

- The Washington Post’s so-called fact-checker, Glenn Kessler, has had a very bad week, finding his own tweets slapped with “community notes” pointing out that they are less than factual.
- “Both Trump sons have now posted photos of the judge’s adult daughter. Totally irrelevant — and obviously intended to intimidate,” Kessler tittered.
This is what Donald Trump Jr. actually posted:
- Kessler’s claim is a flat-out falsehood.
- Neither Trump son posted any photos at all. What they did was link to a Breitbart story that has the photo of the judge and his daughter as its featured image. It showed up automatically when the Trumps inputted the story’s URL in their tweets.
- Soon, a community note was appended to Kessler’s outrageous fake news tweet.
- “The posts in question contain a link to an article alleging that the judge’s daughter previously worked on the Biden-Harris campaign. Neither individual attached a photo; it is the preview image for the linked article,” the note read.
“Why hasn’t this ‘fact-checker’ been fired yet?” another user wondered.
- But Kessler made his fake news even worse by altering the Trumps’ tweets, saying, “I removed the photos from their tweets so as not to spread the image further.”
- This sent writer Mollie Hemingway to blast Kessler.
- “Did you really just deceptively edit these tweets in order to falsely portray the LINKING OF A NEWS STORY ABOUT A PUBLIC FIGURE as the posting of a private individual’s photo? Wow, BANNER FREAKING WEEK, GLENN,” she wrote.

Trump case spotlights New York rule barring cameras in court
- Trump’s case again highlights how New York has among the most restrictive laws in the nation banning cameras and broadcasts inside the courtroom in most proceedings, a law that dates back to the 1930s. The state Legislature has barely tinkered with it since then. Only Washington D.C. is more stringent on media coverage inside the court, according a report last year by the The Fund for Modern Courts, a nonpartisan nonprofit.
- Some state lawmakers are making a renewed push to change the law amid Trump’s high-profile appearance Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court.
- While New York has banned cameras in the courts for a century, New York experimented with a change from 1987 and 1997. But while the limited allowance of electronic media coverage was applauded, it was not turned into a permanent law by the state Legislature.

Trump’s trial needs to be televised
- Betsy McCaughey calls on N.Y. Legislature to pass a law allowing for cameras in the courtroom
- That is why it is important that the entire trial be televised. The New York County jury pool may be unavoidably biased against Trump, but if the jury convicts, the case will be appealed where the law and facts will more likely prevail.
- The real jury in this case is the public, which will decide if they want Trump to be president again. The public needs to be able to scrutinize Trump’s trial, gavel to gavel. Bragg’s legal gymnastics need to be on full display, as he attempts to leap over the statute of limitations, turn a state misdemeanor allegedly committed seven years ago into a federal felony and transform two business transactions into 34 separate crimes. Here’s the hitch: In New York state, TV cameras are barred from the courtroom.
- A bill to allow televised coverage awaits action in the New York State Legislature. Lawmakers need to pass it now. The public deserves transparency. All states except New York and Louisiana already permit TV cameras in court.

- Last week Chief Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee ordered former Vice President Mike Pence to testify before a grand jury about his conversations with President Trump related to January 6.
