- Portland is an increasingly violent place and facing a growing homeless crisis. Local officials do not seem terribly interested in finding solutions or protecting citizens.

- Walmart is closing the last two locations it has in Portland, Oregon this month. The company’s official line about the closings is that it has to do with store performances, customer needs, and other corporate speak.

US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm: It Will Take Years to Replenish Strategic Petroleum Reserve
- When the Biden Administration sold off 221 million barrels of crude oil from the SPR last year, the idea was to buy oil to replace what was withdrawn. In October of last year, the Administration announced that it would repurchase crude oil for the reserve when prices were at or below about $67-$72 per barrel. The move would be dual purpose in that not only would it replenish the nation’s depleted reserves, but it would boost demand when prices were low instead of sending them into orbit at a time or regular prices.
- In December, the Administration said that it had plans to make the first of these repurchases. The Administration issued a solicitation for 3 million barrels of sour crude oil, with bids due by December 28. Contracts were to be awarded by January 13. At the time, WTI was trading around $74 per barrel. It later declined the finalize its own buyback plan, saying that it did not get offers that met its terms for price or quality.
- Today, WTI is trading at just over $71 per barrel—a price that many forecasters don’t think will stick around for long. But according to Granholm, refilling the SPR at $70 per barrel will be difficult this year. In fact, according to Granholm, it will take a few years to replenish.
- The SPR currently holds 372 million barrels of crude oil, down from 638 million at the beginning of 2021. It is the lowest level since December 1983. Oil was first delivered into the U.S. SPR in 1977.

Janet Yellen is once again on thin ice inside the Biden Administration over her bungling of the banking crisis that keeps roiling markets, The Post has learned.
The question is when will Sleepy Joe & Co. finally act? They need to put Yellen out of her misery and end ours by handing her job to someone who knows how to deal with the very real possibility of banks failing on a scale not seen since the 2008 financial crisis and a possible deep recession.

It’s possible she really is stupid and incompetent and doesn’t actually know those things as a bat-brained academic, but it’s also possible that she does, but she mouths the wokester lines and odd rationalizations about inflation which is a product of Joe Biden’s government overspending because she’s politically weak and going along with the wokester flow coming from the White House, just as Joe Biden does, making her a sort of mirror image of Joe himself, although she is not senile. There have been reports in the past that she’s on her way out, she’s been reportedly concerned about them, and yet … nothing ever happened.

- Special Counsel John Durham revealed he has unearthed a text message showing Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann falsely told the FBI he was not working on behalf of any client when he delivered anti-Trump research.
- Special Counsel John Durham is revealing new smoking gun evidence, a text message that shows a Clinton campaign lawyer lied to the FBI, while putting the courts on notice he is prepared to show the effort to smear Donald Trump with now-disproven Russia collusion allegations was a “conspiracy.”
- Durham for the first time suggested Hillary Clinton’s campaign, her researchers and others formed a “joint venture or conspiracy” for the purpose of weaving the collusion story to harm Trump’s election chances and then the start of his presidency.
- “These parties acted as ‘joint venturer[s]’ and therefore should be ‘considered as co-conspirator[s],'” he wrote.
- Durham also revealed he has unearthed a text message showing Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann falsely told the FBI he was not working on behalf of any client when he delivered now-discredited anti-Trump research in the lead-up to the 2016 election. In fact, he was working for the Clinton campaign and another client, prosecutors say.
- The existence of the text message between Sussmann and then-FBI General Counsel James Baker was revealed in a court filing late Monday night by Durham’s team. Prosecutors said they intend to show Sussmann gave a false story to the FBI but then told the truth about working on behalf of the Clinton campaign when he later testified to Congress.
Justice Watchdog Asks Congress to Grant Authority to Investigate DOJ Lawyers
- Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) Michael E. Horowitz wants Congress to upgrade his authority to include investigating allegations of professional misconduct against government lawyers involved in litigation, providing legal advice, and official investigations.
- “While the IG has jurisdiction to review alleged misconduct by non-lawyers in the department, it does not have jurisdiction over alleged misconduct committed by department attorneys, including federal prosecutors, when they act in their capacity as lawyers, namely, when they are litigating, investigating, or providing legal advice,” Horowitz told members of the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies during a March 23 hearing.

Google’s ‘Evil’ Monopoly Under Fire After New Study Shows Profound Political Bias
“A federal judge on Friday set a fast-paced schedule in the U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust lawsuit challenging Google LLC’s digital advertising technology practices, moving the case along more quickly than either side had proposed,” Reuters reported.
“U.S. Magistrate Judge John Anderson in Alexandria, Virginia, after a brief hearing issued an order setting Jan. 18, 2024, as the date when Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) Google and Justice Department lawyers must disclose factual evidence and experts reports,” the report added. “Lawyers for both sides had sought at least five additional months to prepare for trial.”
The DOJ lawsuit was filed along with the attorney generals of California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Virginia.
In the suit, filed in federal court in Virginia, the Justice Department argues Google has “corrupted legitimate competition” in the online ad space through a “systematic campaign to seize control of” online tools used for digital advertising. It is seeking to break up Google’s ad monopoly under the federal Sherman Act—which prohibits monopolization and the attempt or conspiracy to monopolize goods or services.
The lawsuit alleges that Google has bought out its ad tech competitors to “wield its dominance” online. The Big Tech juggernaut compels advertisers to use its service and “disrupt[s] their ability to use competing products effectively.

- Minnesota lawmakers have advanced legislation introduced by a transgender representative that could strip custody from parents who do not support their child changing genders.
- The bill, HF 146, moved forward with a vote of 68-62, along party lines.
- The bill says that the state can claim temporary emergency jurisdiction over a child if they are in the state and “the child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care.” It is meant to prevent law enforcement from removing a child from parental custody based on an order made outside the state.

A federal prosecutor admitted in court papers that three D.C. Metropolitan Police Department undercover officers acted as provocateurs at the northwest steps of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
The admission came in a March 24 filing before U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras that seeks to keep video footage shot by the officers under court seal.
Prosecutors accused the case defendant—William Pope of Topeka, Kansas—of an “illegitimate” attempt to unmask the video as part of his alleged strategy to try the case in the news media. Pope filed a motion to remove the court seal on Feb. 21.

A Manhattan grand jury weighing whether to indict former President Donald Trump is set to reconvene Monday – after chaotic sessions last week when they didn’t hear evidence in the case for two days straight.
Jurors are scheduled to meet Monday afternoon in the lower Manhattan municipal building where they’ve gathered since the investigation began — but it’s unclear if they’ll hear from an additional witness or begin deliberations.
The panel will reportedly weigh whether to hit Trump with falsification of business records related to hush money payments his former fixer, Michael Cohen, made to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
