- Macy’s has announced that it is closing a total of 55 stores by the end of 2024, in the faltering brand’s ongoing effort to revamp its business.
- According to The Daily Mail, the company originally intended to close 50 underperforming stores by the end of the year, part of the 150 total locations it will close within three years. However, it now plans to close 55 before 2025.
“The biggest things that have gone wrong at Macy’s are the quality of the stores and the product assortment,” GlobalData Retail analyst Neil Saunders said to the outlet.
“And so over the years customers have deserted it, sales have tumbled and store productivity has gone down. All the metrics have gone in the wrong direction.”

And she’ll keep fighting to bring down prescription drug costs by taking on pharmacy middlemen, who raise consumers’ prices for their own gain and squeeze independent pharmacies’ profits.

On the subject of groceries, the margins in that industry are already some of the lowest in the economy. What grocery stores and producers are “price gouging,” and don’t federal laws already exist to combat that?
- Then Harris is going to be “taking on the pharmacy middlemen.” How’s she going to do that? What does that even mean? We don’t know because she doesn’t say. Her entire platform on lowering costs is just a bunch of vague promises not connected to any solid policy prescriptions.
- On Social Security, this is all Harris managed.
- Vice President Harris will protect Social Security and Medicare against relentless attacks from Donald Trump and his extreme allies. She will strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the long haul by making millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share in taxes. She will always fight to ensure that Americans can count on getting the benefits they earned.
- For context, it’s a blatant lie to claim that Donald Trump wants to cut or even reform Social Security. On the contrary, Trump has taken heat from the right because he doesn’t want to do anything to fix the program before it careens off the fiscal cliff. Regardless, Harris’ plan to save it is to raise taxes. That’s it. Never mind that there aren’t enough billionaires in the country to confiscate wealth from to save Social Security long term. I suppose it does sound good if you’re extremely gullible, though.

- Elton John, a gay musician, should hate Donald Trump. After all, we’re told that Trump hates gays, along with blacks, Hispanics, dogs, cats…you name it. Trump is a hater. However, no one seems to have given Elton John that message. Instead, he responded with incredible graciousness when an interviewer asked him about Trump’s having called Kim Jong-un “rocket man,” followed by his giving Kim a copy of the Elton John CD with that song on it.
- When the interviewer from Variety asked Elton John about Trump’s references to his music, it was clear that the interviewer expected John to respond with anger and revulsion. After all, even ABBA’s gotten into the canceling game when it comes to Trump (which is why I, an ABBA fan for 50 years, just canceled them myself).
