How to Run Your Own Company: Entrepreneurship for Women in Tech Part 1
In this episode of the Women TechCast, Amy Babinchak of Harbor Computer Services and Khali Henderson of BuzzTheory Strategies sit down with Cristina Greysman of Amazon and Janet Schijns from the JS Group to talk about what entrepreneurship means and what they’ve learned along the way.
“When I hear entrepreneurship, I hear freedom. I hear a breath of fresh air,” said Schijns. “It also means that you also have to be purposeful and think, ‘How am I going to make money at this?’”
Babinchak decided to go into business for herself after burning out in the corporate world, traveling 75 percent of the month. “I didn’t intentionally start a business, but as soon as I had one I realized, ‘This is where I needed to be,’” she said.
Henderson turned her journalism career into a successful business after realizing how many year’s she’d spent making money for other people. “I had made other people wealthy and thought, ‘Maybe I should do that for myself,’” Henderson said.
