Women Over 70: Aging Reimagined
089 Joy Loverde: Visionary Spokesperson for Eldercare
The world is just catching up with Joy Loverde, a champion of eldercare and family caregiving
for over 30 years. In the second of two widely acclaimed books, Who Will Take Care of Me
When I’m Old? (2017), Joy speaks frankly and considerately about planning for the realities of
aging and living longer. Women should start planning in their 40s so as older adults they will
have enough money and housing that feels like home. She also encourages women to have
authentic conversations with each other about experiences of growing older. Joy consults
widely with companies about respectful messaging of their products and services to the mature
market. She embraces technology as a tool for resourceful living, including robots becoming
part of our lives. Joy’s consistent message: If you want to know about being old, observe and
ask the people who are old.
Old people are living answers to our lives. - Joy Loverde
