Women Over 70: Aging Reimagined
046 Susan Ross: Living Solo with Verve
Description: Sue Ross, age 74, took 8 years to transition from her full-time faculty position in Social Work to “being done” in 2018. Even though Sue taught gerontology and retirement transition, she needed plenty of time to “find my way” through the process. A ‘spinster’ by choice, Sue’s curious mind, thirst for travel, self-reliance, and commitment to community has led her to work in several fields, visit many parts of the world, connect with spiritual communities, and be planful about what may lie ahead. Living solo, and for nearly 30 years with ‘silent disabilities,’ Sue is strategic about the kind of ‘home’ she wants to create for the next phases of her life.
"Just because you ‘know’ something doesn’t mean you can skip living through it." - Susan Ross
