Women Over 70: Aging Reimagined
023 Miriam Ben-Yosef:Learning from Transformative Life Experiences
In this episode, Gail, Catherine and Miriam discuss important lessons learned from profound life experiences. We travel with Miriam from Romania to Israel to Chicago, and through deaths of parents, departure from home of birth, and unanticipated motherhood. These experiences which “punctuated and outlined my life” have enriched Miriam’s passion for teaching, writing, and family and friends.
"My life, made out of fragments, becomes whole with help from family, friends, and writing." - Miriam Ben-Yosef, Ph.D.
Take-Aways—Lessons Learned:
-
Anything is possible, and the most important thing in life is to not hurt other people
-
Independence and self-reliance are of utmost importance
-
Aging provides opportunity to be grateful for what we have, to take advantage of every moment, of all our choices,—rather than dwell on what has been lost
