Women Over 70: Aging Reimagined

004 Karla Klinger: Poetic Reflections on Aging

July 03, 2019

Karla approached her eighth decade wondering ‘how do women in their 70’s lead vital lives’? Her interviews with women in their 70s, then into their 80s, were illuminating. Transitioning to a retirement community rekindled her passions for pottery and poetry.

Key Takeaways:

  • As we become old(er), we can find new ways to engage in our passions.

  • Moving from a home and community of 54 years is difficult, but the important thing is having the choice to move and not be in a situation where others have to move you.

  • Aging is a process that brings new awarenesses, challenges and opportunities with each passing decade.

"I am a museum of memories of myriad images, a spectrum of emotions, cares, and commitments." - Karla Klinger
