All things are relative. If you zoom out far enough, anything can seem inconsequential. Humans have been around for about 200,000 years, which seems long by my estimation. This is truly a drop in the proverbial bucket compared to the estimated 4.6 billion years since the Earth formed into a disk-shaped cloud of dust and gas rotating around a star. All of humanity's existence would be one teensy slice of the 23,000 piece pizza of Earth's existence. It's easy to get lost in that pizza's sauce and lean into the comfort of your own insignificance. At the same time, everything seems much larger up close. Instead of envisioning yourself composed of the universe's rejected farts, maybe instead you are a very special person that contains just the right amount of everything. Be nice to people because we're really not around for that long.
