Something identifiable as “podcasting” is now eighteen years old. Yeah, there’s debate on what the first podcast is and who truly is the first podcaster. I don’t have the time/energy/desire to dive into that. I have been listening to and loving podcasts since late 2004. I’ll be hitting my own eighteenth anniversary as a podcaster in a couple months.

Podcasting was different back then. But it wasn’t a golden time of simple successes. There was no golden ticket back then and there isn’t one now (but it can be helpful to be already famous before starting a podcast).
