WDW Mousenger Podcast: Episode #5 – Saving Mr. Banks

January 12, 2014

In this week's episode, I'll take a look at one of my favorite movies of the year, "Saving Mr. Banks", the story of Walt Disney and his studio's struggle to make the classic "Mary Poppins", despite their tempestuous and often contentious relationship with Poppin's author P. L. Travers.   We talk about the attention given to detail and authenticity in the movie, from the Disneyland balloons being custom made to fit the mid 60's look, to Walt's personal habits and how Tom Hanks brought him to life on the screen.  I also give a shout out to all those who ran in the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend, and congratulate the runners who took part in the inaugural "Dopey Challenge"  So now it's time to sit back and enjoy the show, because if you're a Disney Geek, you're among friends here!

For more reading on the about the events that inspired "Saving Mr. Banks, I recommend Jim Korkis' book "The Vault of Walt, Volume II".

Enjoy the Show!
