RELATIONSHIPS with Rebekah Campbell

March 22, 2022

If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be?

“The value of relationships.  I’ve been thinking about this a lot since I started writing my book. When I was younger no one ever told me the value of long term friendships / relationships. I spent way too much time/emotion on burning through people when I was younger (accountants, business partners, employees, early on even friends).  It wasn’t until my thirties that I really started to notice others who’d built these rock solid relationships over many years and how much this adds to your life in terms of happiness, wellbeing and also business outcomes. Now I’m raising two young children, I put so much more emphasis on helping them to deepen their friendships and model friendship. There should be a much bigger focus on this at school as well as learning about relationships in general.”

Imagine that you’re a super smart entrepreneur that has run & invested in several successful business ventures but you find it hard to translate your business success into your love life. You’re keen to start a family…but can’t seem to meet that right person no matter what you do. How would you tackle this problem that’s more common today than many people realise?

Rebekah Campbell is the co-founder of Hey You, a mobile app used by more than one

million Australians to order and pay at cafes. But she’s also the author of a fascinating book called 138 Dates - a true story of one woman's search for everything. You see, Rebekah took a very different approach to her dating dilemma and she bares all in her wonderfully unique story.

Prior to Hey You, Rebekah founded the shopping app Posse.com and built one of Australia’s

most successful independent music companies representing the careers of Evermore, Matt

Corby, Lisa Mitchell and several others with offices in New York and London.

Rebekah has kept a blog about her experiences as an entrepreneur which was named ‘Best

Business Blog’ by Smart Company and became a New York Times column in 2012. Rebekah

is a high-profile public speaker who spoke at TEDx Sydney (2012) and numerous events for

Business Chicks and was named a Woman of Influence in 2015 and APEC Young

Woman Innovator. She was the host and curator of the City of Sydney’s virtual event series ‘Reboot’ supporting 18,000 Sydney business owners to recover from the impact of COVID in

2020 / ‘21.

I saw Rebekah speak at an event many years ago and was struck by her humble nature that masks a clearly incredibly talented and intelligent woman. I hope you enjoy this wonderful conversation with Rebekah Campbell.
