KEEPING UP APPEARANCES with Rebecca Saunders

November 09, 2021

If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be?

“Body Confidence. The whole pressure around keeping up appearances for society, not for yourself. I believe it’s time to step into the uniqueness of you!”

_________

After 25 years of covering up herself & wearing a ‘mask’, Rebecca Saunders has decided to throw away the wig & embrace her true self - no matter how uncomfortable that makes others feel. Since the age of 7, Bec has had an autoimmune disorder called alopecia universalis which means she has no hair on any part of her body. So, for most of her life, she’s worn a wig (in public) to fit in with society's expectations of what people think is ‘normal’. Throughout lockdown - it was all too much for Becc and she decided to throw away the wig and step into what makes her unique and own that. It’s early days - but what’s happened already in these short months has been amazing. She’s not only happier and more free than she’s ever been, she’s inspiring so many others to embrace their own uniqueness more and be more body confident.

In business, Rebecca is known as a video ninja. She’s a sought after video strategist who builds brands with impactful video content and live virtual events. At the age of 22, Rebecca packed a small bag and booked a one-way ticket to Sydney with her laptop and just $500 in her pocket as she boarded that plane. She had a dream of living in Australia and building her own company to sponsor herself to stay here. Fast forward a decade and Rebecca has built a global production company, has a purpose built film studio in Sydney where she produces live virtual events and education content, and has a selection of online courses including her signature program "The Video Accelerator" to help make our video journey's just that little bit easier.

Becc and I connected at a business event and it brings me so much joy to see her stepping into this space of not worrying what others think about her looks and embracing life more fully. I hope you enjoy this wonderful conversation with Rebecca Saunders.
