Nikki & Jaimies Top 10 Tips Recap
1. Understand the basic elements of a run shoe so you know what to look for and what the differences are
2. Know your planned approx distance goals, exercise/run history, injuries and where you plan to run mostly – i.e Trail or road for example?
3. Find an expert or trained professional in store to help you if it’s been a while since you’ve had run specific shoes
4. Build Up Slowly – whether getting back into running and getting into a new shoe
5. Get the fit that suits your foot – wide, narrow etc, arch support. Ensure you have a small gap between your big toe and the end of the shoe for running shoes
6.  Try your shoes on in-store and jog up and down. Try lots of different pairs to see what feels and fits best.
7. Get great socks! Seriously. Having the right sock that doesn’t slip or cause blisters is key for running comfort.
8. Replace your shoes when the tread is low and you’ve reached some solid mileage – depending on your km’s look at every 3 to 6 months to bring in a new shoe.
9. Don’t get razzled by what others are wearing,  look for form, function and fit that suits your needs
10. Don’t buy a shoe online you have not researched or know suits your needs – the right running shoe can prevent injuries, ensure you are supported anatomically and must fit your goals. Get good advice and try shoes out in-store. Read up about the shoe if you are going to get it online and make sure you know your own anatomical needs and structure – if in doubt head to an experienced running shoe store or podiatrist and ask.
