Tom Levenson - filmmaker and Prof of Science Writing at MIT - talks with science writer and journalist Russ Rymer about writing fiction and non fiction, the relation of writing to science and art to science. The discuss Rymer's third book and science/medicine charged first novel novel, "Paris Twilight," published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Russ Rymer has contributed articles to the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, National Geographic, Harper's, Smithsonian, Vogue, and Los Angeles Magazine, among other publications. His first book, Genie, a Scientific Tragedy, a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist and winner of a Whiting Writers' Award, was translated into six languages and transformed into a NOVA television documentary. American Beach: a Saga of Race, Wealth, and Memory and re-subtitled American Beach: How "Progress" Robbed a Black Town--and Nation--of History, Wealth, and Power.
