Happy New Year and welcome back to the Vigaland podcast where we are currently bringing you chapters from the book, "VOICE FROM AN URN" by author, Viga Boland. If this is your first time listening to this podcast, which is focused on child sexual abuse, specifically #incest, it might be a good idea to listen to the previous two episodes. In those segments,  I introduce this book, which is actually the third part of the trilogy I began with my true memoir of incest, "NO TEARS FOR MY FATHER".

Today I will be sharing with you Chapter 2, in which my mother and I begin to touch on the past neither of us has ever discussed with each other. My mom is now further along in her recovery from chemo treatments and troubled by the past she is trying to recall and understand, and she is bothered by what she suspects might have happened between my father and me. She wants to know, and doesn't want to know, and as we speak, by the end of the chapter, she becomes too distressed to go any more deeply into our mutually ugly past. As she drifts off to sleep, her mind wanders back to the days she met and married her abusive husband, my father, in 1944-5 when warplanes soared overhead and I was conceived in a trench just after the allies put an end to World War 2.

In the podcast that will follow this one, you will be listening to my mother as a pregnant 19-year-old, narrates her own story of abuse.
