Episode 99 — Lazarus, Vol. 1 & 2

December 31, 2014

This week on View from the Gutters our topic work is Lazarus, by Greg Rucka, Santiago Arcas, and Michael Lark. Set in a dystopian future in which the Earth is ruled by corporate families who via for control while exploiting the “waste”, the unwashed masses who are neither family nor those lucky enough to have curried a family’s favor.

Each family has one Lazarus: a nigh-unkillable super-soldier/bodyguard who is tasked with protecting the family and promoting their interests. The series follows Forever Carlyle, the Lazarus of the Carlyle family, as she deals with family infighting, assassination attempts, and the ever-present threat of war with the other families.

For our Giant-Sized All-New View from the Gutters #100 we are doing a special 2-part episode. In part 1 we will discuss Watchmen. In part 2 we will discuss the movie adaptation of Watchmen. The book selected in this episode will be the reading for episode 101.

In our recommendation section, our hosts nominated Atomic Robo, Flashpoint, She-Hulk, Wolverine: Origin, and The Bounce for discussion on the next episode, and our selected title is Flashpoint.

Our hosts for this episode are Andrew Chard, Tobiah Panshin, Kayleigh Fleeman, Brant Gillihan-Eddy, and Cade Reynolds.
