This week on View from the Gutters our topic work is Three, written by Kieron Gillen with art by Ryan Kelly. Three is Gillen’s direct response to Frank Miller’s 300. It is the story of three Helot slaves in Sparta, roughly a century after the Battle of Thermopylae—a period when Sparta was in decline. The three slaves are the lone survivors of an uprising against the masters and are fleeing Sparta, pursued by an army of Spartans seeking revenge.
