Herschel Luckinbill | Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club

Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize Herschel Luckinbill of Montgomery, Illinois, as the Illinois Veteran of the Month . . . The title of Veteran of the Month is bestowed upon individuals who have been exceptionally dedicated to honoring veterans and improving our community.
We can never fully repay those who have risked and given their lives in service to our country, but because of the tireless efforts of advocates like Herschel Luckinbill, their sacrifice will not be forgotten. Madam Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me today in recognizing Mr. Herschel Luckinbill for his service to our country and to veterans in our community.  – US Representative Bill Foster
After navy service during Vietnam, where he sailed aboard the first American ship that took direct fire from the Viet Cong, Hershel Luckinbill felt compelled to join the VFW, American Legion, and many other veterans’ organizations.  “I just felt the need to help give back to our veterans,” he says.
Decades later, as part of his continued personal mission, Hershel runs the Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club in Montgomery, Illinois—a nonprofit veterans’ organization that gives veterans opportunities to meet regularly over breakfast for the camaraderie and to learn about happenings in the local veterans community.
“Our members range from WWII vets to those who served in Afghanistan,” says Bill, “All veterans are welcome.”
