VZ 034 - Natural Remedies for Acid Reflux

February 09, 2014

I’m sure many of you have had that ugly, burning feeling in your stomach or throat.  You know the one, where it feels like acid is burning holes in your gut.  This is a fire that water doesn’t put out, and don’t dare drink milk, which is a notorious acid-producer!

Of course modern medicine has provided us with a slew of treatments, both prescription and over-the-counter.  And sometimes, that is what is needed, at least short-term.  But what about natural remedies?

First of all, our disclaimer as always…we are not medical professionals and any suggestions we make should not be taken in place of a doctor’s counsel.  Please always involve your doctor in your treatment plans.

That said, in this episode Vickie relates her recent experiences with GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease), of which acid reflux is a large part.  We explain the symptoms and what can cause it. Finally, we share some ways you can change your habits as well as some natural remedies to try that may help ease symptoms.

Quote of the  Week

I don’t read for plot.  I don’t like to read for plot.  I read for sentences.  I read for internal life.  I read because I want my internal life to connect with the internal life that I’m reading on the page.
