VZ 027 - Keeping Pets Safe & Healthy During the Holidays
We’re all busy during the holiday season. Â Buying and wrapping gifts, making cookies, attending and/or hosting parties, making airport runs, keeping the kids busy, and so much more. Â With so much going on, sometimes pets can fade into the background a bit. Â Not that we don’t love them less during this busy time, of course, but with so many different things going on, we may not keep close tabs on what they are up to.
Lots of holiday items and traditions can pose dangers to our furry babies. Â Candles left burning can easily be knocked over by curious cats, for example. Â Cats and mischievous pups also like to chew on wires, which can lead to electrocution and fire. Â There are many foods that are not good for dogs and cats. Â Chocolate is the obvious one, but did you know that artificial sweeteners are poisonous to dogs, as are onions and some plants? Â Tinsel and curling ribbon, if ingested, can actually lacerate a cat or dog’s intestinal tract or stomach. Â
In this episode, we discuss these things plus many more that you should be aware of in order to ensure both you and your pets have a safe and happy holiday season.
