VZ 013 - This for That: Healthy Recipe Substitutions

Common sense tells us that skim milk is healthier than whole milk, correct?  Less fat equals healthier.  But what is healthier than skim milk?  How about plant and nut milks: soy, almond, hemp, rice, or coconut?  Generally lower in fat content (although coconut milk has a high fat content, it is plant-derived, not animal) and always cruelty-free, non-dairy milks are excellent substitutions in recipes and for washing down a yummy cookie.


In this episode, we discuss the importance of choosing healthier vegetarian/vegan options for many standard foods, whether you are consuming them directly or using them in cooking or baking.  If you are new to eating a plant-based diet, it is essential to have a few good go-to resources to help you make a smooth transition to your healthier, happier lifestyle.  Along with reviewing many substitutions, we also mention two excellent online resources you will want to bookmark.
