VZ 015 - A Review of the Documentary Film Forks Over Knives

September 22, 2013

Are foods derived from animals the only source of protein for humans?  Is drinking cow's milk necessary for humans in order to get enough calcium?  If you answered "no" to both of these questions, you would be correct. You would also be among a small segment of the American population who agrees with you.

These issues are but two among many that the documentary film Forks Over Knives uses to make the case that eating a whole food, plant-based diet is key to combating the many degenerative diseases that plague our society.  Not only has consuming animal-based food sources been shown to have a detrimental effect on the health of humans, but consuming plant-based foods has been shown to have a positive and, in many instances, a reversing effect on cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes.

In this episode of the podcast, we present an overview of Forks Over Knives and offer our insights into some of the issues discussed.  (Spoiler Alert: we LOVE this film!).
