The Mystery That Holds It All Together
Pastor Jon Verwey
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’” — Mark 1:9–11 (NIV)

God the Father speaks from heaven, affirming His love for the Son.
God the Son is baptized, stepping into His mission of redemption.
And God the Holy Spirit descends upon the Son, empowering Him for the work ahead.

“For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.’” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. — 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 (NIV)
