THE LOST BOYS (1987)

November 01, 2019

If there's one thing Nakea can't stand about our 2019 Halloween Movie Marathon, it's all the damn vampires, as we sit down for her first viewing of Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys (1987).

First, we're having a discussion about vampiric role models. If every generation gets the vampires it needs and deserves, Michael's generation got to sleep all day, party all night, and never grow old with these disaffected teen-age bloodsuckers. But what are Nakea's cinematic pointy-toothed aspirations?

Then, we're sitting down for Nakea's first viewing of this influential cult classic, as Michael introduces her to the glories of oily saxophone solos, maggoty California cuisine, Grandpa Gilmore as a hip undead father figure, and not one but two Coreys battling the forces of darkness.

Leather-clad, mulleted, vaguely homoerotic vampires on motorcycles? It must be the '80s.
