How to Pivot During a Pandemic

June 05, 2020

Our TYCOONO TALK podcast host Bethany, interviews Melissa Gilbo and Amy Pocsik, Co-Founders of the Women's Business League, to discuss how women's networking is pivoting amidst this pandemic.

The COVID-19 crisis has filled business owners across the globe with uncertainty about what's to come.  Conversation topics focus on profit loss, business closures, and plans for reopening amidst a recession. Times are tough for business owners, that's an undeniable truth. However, what happens when an already marginalized part of society gets hit with even more unexpected adversity?  For the 12.3 million women in the founder's chair across America, lack of access to things like capital and cash flow has been a continuous hurdle. The halt of the global economy adds another layer of complexity to the problem. Now more than ever it's imperative for women to band together and drive relationship-based sales, as we all navigate how to continue marketing in the new normal to stay afloat/thrive.

While traditional in-person networking is challenging with today's restrictions, organizations like the Women's Business League have pivoted to engage members through virtual avenues. Founded by two moms/corporate refugees, Amy Pocsik and Melissa Gilbo, the Women's Business League has reignited the power of networking, especially during trying times. The core of their mission is inspiration and encouragement, values that drive the connections created amongst its members. Together, Pocsik and Gilbo, have created a safe haven for female entrepreneurs and innovators to come together, share resources, and promote their businesses.
