Trends & Issues in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, and Learning Sciences

Episode 40 Trends for the Weeks of May 18-June 1 Google Cardboard, Robo-teachers as Teaching Assistants, & Lists of Effective Ways to Use Technology

June 02, 2015

We discuss the trends and issues we observed during the weeks of May 18-June1, 2015 as we flipped resources into our Flipboard magazine (http://bit.ly/trendsandissues). In this episode of our podcast, we discuss 3 trends. The first trend  was, as with last episode,  VR headsets, but specifically related to Google Cardboard. There were several resources discussing how Google Cardboard. The second trend focuses on use of bots, robo-teachers, and adaptive teaching support in online courses and in teaching. While we only provided a few resources on this topic, we felt it warranted a trend.  Our final trend focuses on a mixture of recommendations on technology and effective uses of technology. As we discussed in our previous podcast episode, we predicted that we would see more resources of this nature due to educators reflecting at the end of the school year on how they have used apps and other tools in their classrooms. The resources we provided this past two weeks are typically reflective pieces about focusing on how-tos in using technology to supporting teaching and learning.

We have four recommended readings for the week.
