Engage, Retain, and Grow: Using Behavioral Finance to Build Lasting Client Relationships With Brian Portnoy (Ep. 492)

November 05, 2024

What if there was a way to make every client meeting feel more personal, engaging, and trust-building?

In this episode of the Top Advisor Marketing Podcast, Matt Halloran welcomes Brian Portnoy — an expert in behavioral finance and founder of Shaping Wealth — to explore how financial advisors can make their practices more impactful by focusing on human-centered financial guidance. It’s all about bringing some human into your work.

They cover everything from setting realistic client expectations (say goodbye to surprise phone calls!) to building a workplace culture that treats people as, well, people.

Matt and Brian discuss:

  • Why empathy starts with self-awareness (and how it makes you a better advisor)
  • The happiness formula that advisors can use to keep clients satisfied
  • Actionable tools to transform those routine meetings into meaningful conversations
  • Creating a “human-first” culture within your team and client base
