Look &/or listen to the story of an ordinary hiking boot or is it?

For Tim & Helen, their love, life & marriage was anything but traditional or ordinary. What others might expect to receive from their soon-to-be spouse as a wedding gift, wasn’t even on Tim’s radar.

He & Helen LIVED to & LOVED to hike! They were planning a trip to Patagonia, Chile & Argentina for their honeymoon and Tim knew that Helen’s hiking boots (bought at REI’s garage sale) weren’t going to cut it. They were old AND ill fitting!

So in anticipation of their wedding and honeymoon, Tim gifted Helen with these Solomon ultra light weight mid GTX (gore-tex) hiking boots. Though this pair isn’t the original from 9 years ago (Happy Anniversary), Tim & Helen have been replacing these same boots every couple of years.

They easily hike 1,000’s of miles in each pair and literally bring them everywhere. We spoke about the challenges for digital nomads aka nomads, who have to carry everything they need with them. I know for me, everything I have has to have a purpose or a story and ideally both. These hiking boots definitely have both.

Just as these boots are far from ordinary & have a big beautiful story … so too does Tim & Helen’s life & marriage.

Hiking has always been their favorite way to see the world! Even when they were living a more conventional life, they always made sure to get outdoors & hike.

During the pandemic, as with many of us, they reflected on what was REALLY important to them. They knew that hiking, mountains & the great outdoors was where they felt the most centered. They decided not to wait until a far off date to do things that they might not be able to do later….. so they started planning & saving.

They learned LOTS. Delving into the FIRE (financial independence retire early) movement, YouTube, travel vlogging & cash back, points & miles.

After 3 years & the worst of the pandemic they started their full-time travel January 2023! I met them both in-person at the last World Domination Summit in June of 2022 & then again at Camp Indie 2023.
