EP.025 – UV15: Seeking Your Value Outside of Validation
November 21, 2017
Last week, “Black-ish” star and Golden Globe-winning actress, Tracee Ellis Ross spoke at Glamour’s 2017 Women of the Year Summit. In her speech (a speech that has gone viral by the way) Tracee shares her personal struggle with self-worth and the power of discovering that “my life is mine”.
I’ll be honest, I was pretty irritated after reading Tracee’s speech and in this UV15 episode, I explain why it bothered me.
This week I discuss the nasty habit of “caring” what other people think and do, and how it transforms into the dangerous game of comparison, which is one of the biggest detriments to the development of our self-worth.
I share my views on the importance of constructive criticism versus confirmation and how we fail ourselves by spending time seeking the approval of others and seeking to approve others.
