Motivation, Inspiration, from The Space Between with Sean McClellan
Did You End Up Where You Thought You Would In Life?
Most of us carry a quiet picture in our mind of how life was supposed to unfold. By a certain age, we thought we would have arrived. The right career. The right relationships. The right sense of certainty. Then one day we look around and realize we are standing in a place we never rehearsed for.
This gap between expectation and reality can feel like failure, but often it is simply life refusing to follow a script we wrote too early. The mind loves clean timelines and predictable outcomes. Life, on the other hand, is more interested in shaping us than satisfying our forecasts. What we imagined might not come to exist because we did not yet have the strength, wisdom, or humility required to hold it.
So what do we do when life looks nothing like the vision we once carried? We pause. We take inventory of who we have become, not just what we have achieved. We ask better questions. What is this season developing in me? What still matters? What am I being invited to release or reimagine?
The power is not in forcing the old picture to come true. The power is in choosing alignment now. When you stop chasing who you thought you would be and start honoring who you are becoming, a truer and more meaningful future begins to take shape.
