How to Be Trans Inclusive: A Conversation with Quinn Rhodes
This week’s episode is a very special one, with Molly and I talking to Quinn Rhodes (ze/hir) about how smutlancers and content creators can be more inclusive of trans and non-binary people. This is an especially important conversation because of recent transphobic comments and behavior both within the sex blogging community and in the wider world (we’re looking at you, JK Rowling).
If you are a cisgender person and wonder what you can do to be more inclusive, give this episode a listen. Quinn offers easy ideas and real-talk about what to do (and not do) when you misgender someone.
In this episode:
* Do not assume gender identity
* Put your pronouns everywhere
* Use they/them when you don’t know but once you know, use someone’s pronouns
* When writing pronouns, it’s less acceptable to get it wrong than when speaking
* Yes relearning is difficult but it’s not as difficult as living the experience
* It’s not enough to say you’re inclusive, your actions have to back that up.
* Retweet and amplify trans voices
* Blogging about gender and bodies can be complicated but it’s possible to be more inclusive
