Into the Sin Bin With Mike Emrick, Dan Rosen and Ron Geary

October 07, 2015

Mike Emrick is the lead announcer for the NHL on NBC. He is beginning his 43rd season behind the mic.
Welcome to the latest edition of Into the Sin Bin! We have a triple-header of guests in this edition.
Leading off is the voice of hockey in North America, Mike “Doc” Emrick. Doc is beginning his 43rd season behind the mic and has called over 4,000 professional games, including 14 Stanley Cup Finals and 10 NHL All-Star Games.
I speak with him about the experience of calling the Kraft Hockeyville USA game recently in Johnstown, PA and how markets like Johnstown are vital to the health of minor pro hockey. We also talk about how hockey has affected him on a personal and professional level, what all the awards mean and who he would have on his Mount Rushmore of hockey.
Our sincere thanks to Alex Rozis of NBC Sports for his assistance in setting up the interview with Mr. Emrick.
Dan Rosen is the senior writer for NHL.com and covers all of the league’s signature events. Courtesy:  https://twitter.com/drosennhl
Later, I break down the major storylines from the NHL’s offseason, look ahead to the start of the regular season and do some prognosticating with NHL.com senior writer Dan Rosen. We also discuss his background in the sport, how he reports on a struggling team for a league-ran site, plus the advantages and disadvantages of having outlets that are not associated with affiliated media.
Ron Geary has been the owner of the IceMen since 2008
Finally, Sin Bin IceMen correspondent Mike Finazzo sits down with Evansville IceMen owner Ron Geary. The two discuss how Geary got involved with the IceMen, the resurrection of the IceMen from their days in the AAHL (All-American Hockey League,) and what the mentality of the team is after an abysmal 2014-15 season.
REMINDER: Beginning with this episode, Into the Sin Bin will be a bi-weekly podcast and premiere at Noon Central time on Wednesdays during the season.
